Pope County Historical Association

June history meeting moved to Techionery

The June 13 meeting of the Pope County Historical Association will be at 7 p.m. at the Techionery on the Arkansas Tech University campus.

The Techionery is at 1502 N. El Paso Ave. on the Tech campus. It is part of the Museum of Prehistory and History, directed by Dr. Judith Stewart-Abernathy.

The exhibit is called “A Sense of Place” and includes materials from the Treat and Big Lick communities and people who lived along Moccasin and Indian Creeks in the Ozark Mountains. The exhibit reconstructs communities through family histories, photographs, oral histories and archeological research, much of which was compiled by Mary Z. Brennan, a Ph.D. candidate.

Dinner will not be available. The meeting is free and open to the public.
